Chillin' in Rare's Hut October 23, 2006 - 3:55 PM PST (-8 GMT)
First off, the old site has been completely wiped off the cyber map. And the new site seems a bit different, too, as now there is a "Site Under Construction" sign hanging next to Leafos' head on the main page. Our Dates Prediction & Rumors Analysis Machine informs us that Rare Ltd.'s official website has a 95% chance of being back and fully operational tomorrow, October 24, 2006. Coincidentally, that's also the date of the new Scribes page that we managed to dig up a day early for you. You might gander at the design in their hidden homepage for now, but remember: we didn't give it away!
Reading through the aforementioned Scribes comes with its advantages. For instance, there's the confirmation of a Perfect Dark Zero Map Pack #2 as well as another Auto-Update to fix some of those pesky bugs (including the Cover through the Wall glitch).
There's also a new song available from Kameo: Elements of Power. In the Scribe's section, a mighty handsome Rareware fansite webmaster inquires about a certain song that plays while you are in the Warrior Trainer's Hut. As a result, "Chillin' in the Trainer's Hut" is now downloadable and Rare knows they should name the new Banjo game Banjo Three-Sixtie .
A Rare Makeover October 20, 2006 - 2:52 PM PST (-8 GMT)
If you happen to check Rare's homepage every three hours in hope of something new, you may have been in for a bit of a surprise today. It seems that Microsoft has given rareware.com a bit of a makeover. Not all of the images are up yet, though. Go to http://www.rareware.com/games/ and you can get a preview of the new site's Games section. If you so long for the old Rare site, still containing the bold blue and gold combinations, then for now you can just click your way over to http://www.rareware.com/welcome/welcome_all.html . Whether you like the new design or not, you can't help but wonder why they decided to put up an unfinished site with minimal pictures.
105,660 Seconds, Thus Far October 18, 2006 - 5:21 AM PST (-8 GMT)
Xbox Live has been back online for a couple of hours now, but not Xbox.com. It should be back up shortly after Microsoft irons out a couple of issues, though. For now, if you have any problems with your Xbox Live account or service, then please just wait a few hours until everything is back and running at full capacity.
Some people have been wondering just what has been so updated during this maintenance. Well, nothing really (at least for Xbox Live, we're not sure about Xbox.com). This update is, supposedly, meant to prepare the service for updates and features that will be added in the near future.
Head on over to Rare's good ol' site and enter the Viva Piņata section for a third journal entry concerning the wild piņatas found in the sweet nature. Or, if you're the lazy type who prefers all visuals and no reading, you may want to visit the sightings section for a few extra screenshots that have been recently released.
86,400 Seconds of Silence October 16, 2006 - 9:45 PM PST (-8 GMT)
For those of you who aren't already aware, Xbox Live and Xbox.com are going off tomorrow. From 12:00 AM until 11:59 PM PST on October 17, 2006, you will not be able to log onto or view Xbox Live or Xbox.com. Microsoft has promised some "secret cool stuff" when the service returns (though it will not be a Dashboard update). If you have no idea what to do during this 86,400-second break, then click the link above for some zany ideas (even though you won't be able to view it while the service is down...)!
Chewnicorn in the Marketplace October 14, 2006 - 12:50 AM PST (-8 GMT)
The Viva Piņata animated television series is becoming a successful Saturday morning cartoon in the United States. Because the show airs at 7:00 AM on Saturday mornings, not everybody is going to wake up in time to see it. Whether or not this describes you, you can always head on over to the Viva Piņata Marketplace Videos section and check out a preview of the show.
Updates like this have been adding more and more content to Rarefare. Unfortunately, we only have so much room on our server and we can no longer host a Screenshots section for any of our covered games. We will still direct you to any new screenshots there are and even continue to collect them in case we ever get enough space to re-host them, but for now that's all we can do.
Media Galaxy October 9, 2006 - 10:40 PM PST (-8 GMT)
We have some new content for you! To ease the pain of sorting through the massive amount of new content, we have once again separated the updates into sections.
Perfect Dark
We've had the Perfect Dark Commercial online for just over 13 months now. It has been a blast to the past for many - music and all. Finally, you can download and enjoy the song from that very commercial in Perfect Dark's new Music section.
Conker: Live & Reloaded
You can also download and enjoy some new music from Conker's latest quest . Arrive at Ugga Bugga Land, End Credits, and The Horror, The Horror are three songs that can now be found on Rarefare, but not on the Official Soundtrack.
Kameo: Elements of Power
If you prefer epic music, then you might fancy yourself to just that in Kameo's music section . Feel free to explore these five non-Soundtrack songs: Castle Fight, End Credits, Fire Troll Entrance (Expanded), I See An Ogre, and Trainer Cave.
On top of the Kameo Power Pack, the Kameo Design-A-Skin Pack has also been released. This free download gives Kameo and each of her ten warriors a new look, as designed by various Kameo fans.
Viva Piņata
There are three new Viva Piņata interviews that may catch your interest. First off, the director of Xbox marketing tells Gamespot about their plans to market Gears of War and Viva Piņata (separately, of course). Then Xbox.com has Rare employee Gregg Mayles talks about what Viva Piņata as a game can do, and what you as a player can do in the game. Gregg again lends his voice over at Rare-Elite to talk about Viva Piņata in general and how Piņata Island was created.
Click on this link if you want to see scans of the September 2006 Edge Preview. This UK-based magazine has an eight-page special packed full of images, information, and insight. We have also typed up the article to make it even easier for you to read once you click that link.
The Game Conference in Leipzig, Germany last month was an exciting time for video game fanatics. Even though you probably couldn't go for yourself, you can view this 25 minute gameplay video to get a better understanding of the game and its papery little critters.
Banjo 360
Not only is Banjo back in his new console platformer, but so is the entire team who created and made the series what it is today. The Banjo team is also promising some new, innovative gameplay, as according to their recent Eurogamer article Sure, this may seem to be news and not content, but it does give us a chance to start off the External Articles section for Banjo 360!
Most importantly, we have a new affiliate now. Donkey Kong Galaxy is a great fansite dedicated to DK and his primate pals. Be sure to check this site out if you wish to see Donkey-Kong related fan art, fanfics, bloopers, and more! Unfortunately, we must also retire both affiliates Rare Insider and BK Base, as their server was hacked. We have a feeling you might be seeing a return of our neighborly Banjo fansite, however.
